Annual Meeting

Announcement Regarding 2020 Canadian Surgery Forum

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought many new challenges to the medical community regardless of discipline. Hospitals across the country have had to reorganize rapidly to prepare for and handle the acute care issues ahead. Governmental recommendations currently advise cancellation of all mass gatherings over 50 people. Many provinces have also restricted travel for health care professionals and for physicians to remain available or redeploy to meet the anticipated need.

As a result, the Steering Committee has determined that cancelling the 2020 Canadian Surgery Forum (CSF) in Vancouver is the only possible decision, thereby protecting the health and safety of our delegates, as well as ensuring the ability of our surgeons to continue to deliver much needed care.

Preparing for the CSF involves the time and effort of a great many individuals including our conference manager, committee chairs, speakers, industry partners and exhibitors. We are deeply disappointed that we cannot deliver the 2020 CSF in Vancouver as we had planned. We realize that CSF provides the annual medium for surgeons and industry to gather to exchange ideas, further clinical knowledge and research, grow their networks and connect with colleagues and friends. And while we are unable to meet in 2020, we are confident this is best for our patients and the communities we serve.
